Relational Intensives
When weekly therapy just isn’t cutting it... go deeper, faster.
What is Relationship Intensive Therapy?
A Relationship Intensive is exactly what it sounds like—an intensive, in-depth, no-BS, all-in therapeutic experience designed for couples who are ready to cut through the surface-level stuff and get to the heart of their struggles. This isn’t your once-a-week, talk-about-your-week kind of therapy. It’s targeted, immersive, and focused on rebuilding, repairing, or realigning your relationship in a short amount of time.
Whether you're in crisis, stuck in the same exhausting loops, or just want to finally feel connected again, this is a powerful, focused approach to create real change.
How Does It Work?
Each intensive is customized for you—because every couple has a unique dynamic, history, and set of challenges. Here's how it typically goes:
Pre-Intensive Assessment
We start with a thorough intake process: online questionnaires, individual interviews, and some optional homework so we can hit the ground running. The Intensive Day(s)
You’ll spend 3 to 6 hours per day over 1–3 days, working directly with a seasoned therapist. You’ll explore the patterns keeping you stuck, learn how to fight fair (yes, there’s a way), rebuild emotional safety, and get tools you can actually use at home.
There’s space for hard truths, healing, laughter, and rebuilding trust—without distractions, interruptions, or waiting another week to pick up where you left off.Post-Intensive Follow-Up
You’ll leave with a personalized plan, resources, and an option to continue with individual or couples work if needed. This isn’t a one-and-done—it’s a launchpad for sustained change.
Why Do a Relationship Intensive?
Because your relationship deserves more than bandaid solutions. Because you’re exhausted. Because the distance hurts. Because something has to change.
Relationship intensives are ideal for couples who:
Are on the brink of separation or divorce
Feel disconnected, resentful, or stuck
Have experienced betrayal, trauma, or trust violations
Struggle with communication, intimacy, or recurring conflict
Don’t want to spend 6 months "warming up" to a therapist
This is deep, focused, and real. It’s for couples who are ready to do the work.
How Is It Different from Regular Couples Therapy?
Speed. Depth. Impact.
Regular therapy is a slow drip—sometimes necessary and effective, but often stretched out and fragmented. You might spend the first 30 minutes of each session catching up and barely scratching the surface before time’s up. It can take months to address core issues.
In contrast, Relationship Intensives offer:
Extended time to dig deep without interruption
Immediate feedback and skill-building
Space to process stuck points and emotions as they arise
A concentrated space for breakthroughs that can take months in weekly sessions
This is therapy that respects your time, energy, and urgency.
You’re not broken. Your relationship isn’t beyond hope. But it does need focused, intentional care and that’s exactly what Relationship Intensives are here for.
Relational Intensives can help:
Relational Intensives is a versatile and adaptable modality that can benefit a wide range of individuals, including those struggling with:
Create clarity around where the relationship is going

Frequently Asked Questions About Relational Intensives
-
Relationship Intensives work because they give couples the time, space, and focus to dive deep—fast. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, which often stops just when things are getting real, intensives offer extended sessions that allow couples to stay in the hard stuff long enough to create real change.
They work because:
You break patterns quickly instead of dragging them out week by week
You build emotional safety faster through uninterrupted time together
You experience real-time breakthroughs instead of just talking about change
You get momentum, clarity, and a plan instead of feeling stuck or stalled
You learn tools and actually apply them on the spot, with expert support
Backed by research and rooted in deep, focused emotional work, Relationship Intensives are a powerful option for couples who are stuck, hurting, or simply ready to reconnect on a deeper level—without waiting months to get there.

In person at my office in Colorado Springs or online. Relational Intensive sessions are similar to going on a personal retreat. It’s best to allow time outside of sessions to be unscheduled or filled only with self-care activities like exercise, body work (acupuncture or massage), and creative expression – drawing, painting, cooking. For those traveling to Colorado, I love to share a list of “Favorite Things” to help you make the most of your time outside of session.

The intensive format means that a large chunk of time is reserved and held especially for you in advance. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking (after the intake) to reserve your intensive time, and the full balance is due on the day of the intensive. A 14 day notice is required to cancel your intensive, otherwise you remain responsible for the full cost of the intensive. I do my best to work with you to reschedule if needed when life happens and a cancellation is unavoidable.
-
Sometimes clients find the intensive process so powerful that they finish one and want to process something else in another. We can schedule additional stand alone intensive sessions that are 3 hours in length at the rate of $900. These intensive sessions do not include additional workbooks, pre-intensive sessions, or post-intensive sessions.

Sadly, Insurance does not cover the cost of Relational Intensives.
-
Relational Intensives give you the results you would get from months of therapy in a much shorter period of time. If you add up the cost of weekly therapy, a Relational Intensive is actually more cost effective. Instead of waiting months, you can get the same results in a few days.

Of Course! Adjunct Relational Intensives are when two therapists partner together to give comprehensive, high-quality care for a client. During Adjunctive Therapy, a client who has been working with a primary therapist will begin to work with a secondary therapist for a specific amount of time on a specific concern. The sessions can be concurrent - meaning that the client meets with each therapist during a specific period of time - or the client may take a brief pause with their primary therapist while they meet intensively with a Relational Therapist. We love collaborative care and would love to help you and your current clinician out!
